GREETINGS!

Welcome to the inaugural post of my BeanyThing Books blog! I am your author and host,

valeriebean.  (No, I don't capitalize that name.) The name 'valeriebean' is a childhood nickname, rhyming with my given name Valerie Jean. Although it lay dormant for many years, it emerged much later in an incident involving a digital watch, a head of broccoli, and a screen name. I had initially intended to use Valerie Bean as a pen name for my writing, because people can spell it, and also to separate my fiction writing from my science papers. However, as I hate being called Ms. Bean, I opted to be me.

The BeanyThing bean wearing a beanie was drawn by my childhood friend. The colors of the hat represent asexual pride. The name BeanyThing also spells "Be AnyThing."

I WROTE A BOOK!

What could possess me to write a blog? Well naturally, it's because I wrote a book and I want to write about writing!

The Disappeared is the first novel of an action-adventure, science fiction series. A total of nine books will be released over the next two years, and wow, what a whirlwind it has been so far.

I HAVE CATS!

This has nothing to do with anything. Except the cats, who must always be the center of everything. My cats are best buds and have joined together to form an elite spider-fighting team. Well, more like spider-monitoring. They have agreed that a dead spider is not as fun as a live spider. Cat toys, however, must be drowned in the water bowl, as they are a menace to society.

I adopted them all between ages 1-2, because kittens scare me.


I think that's a good enough introduction. Hello, world. I look forward to rambling in your general direction about writing, science, cats, fandom, cosplay, and ... well, probably just those things.
